Calcium carbide granules
Ground calcium carbide is a highly efficient desulfurizing agent
- Commodity name: Calcium carbide granules
Keywords:
Ground calcium carbide is a highly efficient desulfurizer. In the production of high-quality steel, sulfur is one of the harmful elements in steel. Because the desulfurization kinetics conditions of converter steelmaking are not as good as those of molten iron, most steel mills adopt out-of-furnace desulfurization of molten iron, and calcium carbide (CaC2) is one of the main desulfurizers. The main method of addition is to process calcium carbide (CaC2) into powder less than 2 mm and inject it into the molten iron by spraying.
Chemical Name: Calcium carbide
Molecular Formula: CaC2
CAS NO.: 75-20-7
Properties: Gray-black lumps, which violently hydrolyze with water to produce acetylene and calcium hydroxide, releasing a large amount of heat.
Uses: Used as a desulfurizer in the smelting of castings and steel.
Index Name | Finished Product |
Gas generation (L/kg) ≥ | 280 |
Particle size (3.0-15mm) %≥ | 90 |
Customer Customization (mm) | 0-30 |
Packaging: 50/100kg iron drum packaging, filled with nitrogen; or 10kg/25Kg/50Kg/1000kg inner plastic woven bag.
Storage and Transportation: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Keep the relative humidity below 75%. The desulfurizer packaging must be sealed to prevent moisture. It should be stored separately from acids, alcohols, etc., and should not be mixed. The storage area should be equipped with suitable materials to contain leaks.
Emergency Treatment and Disposal Methods:
I. Emergency Response to Leaks
Isolate the leaked contaminated area and restrict access. Cut off the ignition source. Emergency responders are advised to wear self-contained respirators and fire-fighting protective clothing. Do not directly contact the leaked material. Small leaks: Mix with sand, dry lime, or soda ash. Collect with spark-free tools in dry, clean, covered containers. Transfer to a safe place. Large leaks: Cover with plastic sheeting or canvas to reduce scattering. Contact relevant technical departments to determine the cleanup method.
II. Fire Fighting Methods
Do not use water or foam to extinguish the fire. Carbon dioxide is also ineffective. Dry graphite powder or other dry powder (such as dry sand) must be used to extinguish the fire.
