Acid-Base Property: Amphoteric substance, soluble in both acidic and alkaline solutions.

Pharmaceutical Field
Pharmaceutical Synthesis Intermediate**: Used in the synthesis of various drugs, such as the local anesthetic procaine, which is an ester formed by p-aminobenzoic acid and diethylaminoethanol.
Participation in Folic Acid Synthesis**: As a component of folic acid, it is crucial for cell growth and division. It can be used to synthesize blood tonics, coagulation-promoting agents, etc., relieving anemia to some extent and promoting human metabolism.
Cosmetic Field
Used as a sunscreen agent. Its derivative, octyl dimethylaminobenzoate, is an excellent sunscreen ingredient, commercially known as Padimate O.
