Guanidine hydrochloride

Used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical organic synthesis

  • Commodity name: Guanidine hydrochloride

Contact Number:

Keywords:

Other names: Guanidine hydrochloride

Chemical formula: CH6ClN3

Molecular weight: 95.53

CAS Registry Number: 50-01-1

Appearance: White or slightly yellow lumps

Applications: Used as an intermediate in the organic synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It is an important raw material for the production of sulfonamide drugs, folic acid, sulfapyrimidine, sulfamethazine, and sulfadimethoxine. In addition, it is used as a strong denaturant in experiments to extract total cellular RNA. Guanidine hydrochloride solution can dissolve proteins, leading to the destruction of cell structure and the secondary structure of nucleoproteins, causing them to dissociate from nucleic acids. RNA enzymes can be inactivated by reducing agents such as guanidine hydrochloride.

Industrial grade guanidine hydrochloride and industrial grade 60% guanidine hydrochloride aqueous solution are intermediates in the manufacture of pesticides, dyes, and other organic synthesis products. They can also be used as antistatic agents in synthetic fibers.
